Bushkill Falls

Last Saturday we went to Bushkill Falls - also known as Niagara of Pennsylvania.Started a bit late around 9:30 from home (as opposed to our plan for 6 AM ..hehe) But we reached there around 11Am . It was quite hot there but the shades in the trails looked welcoming.
The tickets costed 9$ each.

There are various trails that can be taken red/blue/yellow/green and in that order of difficulty. We decided to take the most difficult one - the Red one and yes it is tiresome - 1267 steps in the trail....and duration of approx 2.5 hrs..this trail requires to climb up and down rocks and is great if you want to challenge yourself ... This trail covers the maximum view points as well.

The best thing bout this trail is that it takes you to a small waterfall which you can enjoy on a hot summer day -- you can actually go under the fall which i suspect is not higher than 12-15 feet...and is very refreshing ....This waterfall cannot be reached by any other trail.
Need to go with lots of water/drinks as there is no water fountain or any other source once you start on the adventure.

I recommend you not to go with high hopes of seeing Huge & Majectic Waterfall and you will enjoy it..
Do check out the official website :http://www.visitbushkillfalls.com

One stop that we took while coming back was a Flea market on route 209 ... it was quite big and i really enjoyed buying stuff from there ....if you go to Bushkill dont miss on this shopping adventure as well..

I heard there is a skydiving place also near by but we didn't get time to go there ..may be next time

NJ/PA - Blue mountains Skiing

Place :Blue Mountain, Poconos
Best Weather : Winters
Type of Trip : Day Trip
My Rating - Excellent

Poconos is in Pennsylvania and within driving distance from NJ/NY/PA.

Blue mountain gave us a day filled of snow adventure - skiing, snow tubing.

We didn't do any snow boarding.Since it was our first time for snow sports , we were tired after skiing itself . Tired of falling & getting up and the heavy shoes .. believe me they are pretty heavy .

We took the package for First-Timers , inclusive of classes , beginner lift and the rental shoes & ski sledges.Rate is around 43 bugs per person.(I would say pretty cheap ..ha )

My opinion - not more than a day trip but if you want to stay a night or so , i think there is lodging available there itself.
And parking is a problem on long weekend - keep extra time for finding parking.
Also if you reach before 10 AM , you will beat the rush .

One thing to keep in mind is that as soon as you reach go directly to the cabin in the beginners area , ask them when the next batch is starting else you might miss the classes and will have to wait for another hours. And believe me for first timers its good to take those classes .
